When I first joined ABC as “Social Secretary” in Year 1, I thought that Accountancy and Business Club was just about doing fun events for NBS undergraduates. Eventually, this one year of opportunities proved to be a lot more than just events.
Yes, we did a whole lot of events. From to NBS Week, to Starbucks Appreciation Workshop and NBS Student Leaders Retreat. Yet as the official student body of Nanyang Business School, there were times we were engaged with serious affairs with consequential implications for every one in NBS. We were engaged in focus groups commissioned by the NBS deanery for branding issues; we met up different stakeholders to convince them why our hardworking NBS students needed a Student Lounge; we strategized and resolved problems involving student affairs.
It was indeed hard work in ABC, but the passion to service our peers moves us further beyond our limits. The inaugural NBS Day 2009 is testimonial of our efforts to fly the NBS flag high; not just from ABC’s point of view, but from what we call the combined NBS Family spirit.
ABC is not your typical Student Council back in JC or Poly. ABC is about improving the quality of undergraduate life in NBS, from both an academic and non-academic perspective. It’s real - everyone in ABC from the Executive to the Main and Understudy Committee plays an important role in improving and value-adding to your peers’ journey here.
In return, we experienced powerful personal development in all aspects – leadership, people management, time management, networking skills and a lot more. If you are inspired by growth, fun-loving and enthusiastic with a firm determination to take the NBS undergraduate brand to a higher level, ABC is the place where you belong.
I found my calling in ABC, what about you?
